This statistic is heartbreaking and underscores a need that should not exist in our
community. Let’s come together to help alleviate this need. Throughout April and May, the Mystical Wings Foundation is committed to filling the FREE FOOD TABLES to support our neighbors in need—both housed and unhoused.
Your contributions can make a real difference. Together, we can encourage change.
From the start of the FREE FOOD TABLES, people in the community have added to the tables daily. So often they will say: “It feels great to be able to help”. I have tried to estimate the amount of food added to the tables by others and I know my figures are very low. I have estimated about 50,000 Lbs. of food added by others but the actual is probably double.
Most of the time when I am at the Dixie/Dundas table someone will come along with food to add. On two occasions I have watched people come out of the grocery store with bags of food and empty them on the table. The FREE FOOD TABLES give people an opportunity to help their neighbours. We see a lot of good people wanting to help their neighbors.
Last but certainly not least I have many people to thank. Shirley, my wife is with me or home making sandwiches, Two of the ladies at the Legion make sandwiches weekly, On of the Legion members always helps to unload food on Thursdays and has for a long time.
Sadly, homelessness is badly misunderstood. I would be happy to meet with any group to discuss homelessness if they wish. As from the daily meeting of people at the five FREE FOOD TABLES since March 2020, we served people needing help through other groups for the past 25 years or more.”
